Last week we photographed the Mancero family of West Des Moines for the Glen Oaks quarterly magazine “The Link”.  West End Architectural Salvage (http://www.westendarchsalvage.com/) was kind enough to provide us with an inspired location for their photo shoot.  Look for the Manceros member spotlight in the next edition of The Link.

OK, this next picture of Bella was created at Glen Oaks last year and then digitally hand painted. 
Yes, the ones and zeros actually fly out of our finger tips onto the canvas .  It’s one of our favorite paintings and definately worth re-posting.

We recently had the pleasure of co-hosting an open house with Liddy Loo and Mommy Too at our studio. Liddy Loo and Mommy Too is a unique, one of a kind clothing and accessory site for girls and their moms. They create outfits unique to each girl and have headbands, bows, flowers, hats, and handbags. They also make matching outfits for girls and their dolls as well as outfits for boys. Mandy Ives is Liddy Loo’s super-talented owner and designer and mom to my favorite little model Lydia. You’ve probably seen Lydia’s little red pig tails in previous posts.

The open house featured Liddy Loo’s new line of spring fashions. Mandy’s mom, Judy catered the affair with some really sweet treats and we photographed our young guests in the new fashions for Liddy Loo’s catalog.

Victoria makes matching buttons and accessories for Liddy Loo’s clothing.  She’s been making her own clothing since she learned to sew as a child. Now she’s teaching our daughter how to make clothing, including ceramic accessories the way she learned.  Needless to say Lanie is very excited and fortunate to have the opportunity.

Lydia’s back!  And she had to wear many hats to sit for this hand-painted portrait series.  Lydia quickly remembered that my lap is the coziest place in the studio, but we managed to get her to sit for the camera between visits once she discovered mom’s bubble wand.  The first image is an “Expressions” Collection Print which we will proudly display in our studio.

Haven first came to our studio when she was about three months old and wowed us with her big beautiful eyes.  Now she is all grown up and back for a little birthday celebration in our studio. 

We are excited to be helping Ride for the Cure Iowa and Komen for the Cure create the first “Young Riders” calendar.  Photojeania is donating portrait sessions to create images for a 2010 wall calendar.  An online photo contest will decide the images to be selected for the calendar and contestants will receive generous discounts from Photojeania and freebies from Ride for the Cure.  All proceeds from contest entry fees and calendar sales benefit Ride for the Cure Iowa and Komen for the Cure.  The contest is open to children ages 6 months to 6 years of age.  For more information, please visit www.photojeania.com/youngriders.

Meet Lydia - a red-headed, blue-eyed princess with a serious side.  Lydia is very comfortable in the studio and made herself at home in my lap when she wasn’t striking poses. 

We have been photographing Cameron since he was a newborn and this was our fourth session together as part of his Baby’s First Year program.  The occasion was his first dip in the backyard pool.  What a privelege to be able to capture these special moments.  Our sessions so far have included maternity relationship portraits, newborn and relationship portraits in the studio, relationship portraits in the home, and now lifestyle images at home.  Our next visit with Cameron will be another lifestyle session at home for his first birthday.

Our senior portrait studio, Seniors by Photojeania, has had a tremendous year in 2009.  The 2009 Des Moines Top Model contest was an overwhelming success with over 10,000 votes cast online for our models.  This season we expanded our senior portrait services to the east coast and photographed senior portrait clients from New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Michigan in addition to Iowa.  We only take on a limited number of senior portrait clients nationwide each year and we are nearly done for the  2009 season.  As we wind down we wanted to share our favorite images from the 2009 season.  For more information on Seniors by Photojeania, please visit www.seniorsbyphotojeania.com and blog.seniorsbyphotojeania.com.

Photojeania is proud to be a part of this year’s Women’s Charity Golf Classic at Glen Oaks Country Club.   The event proceeds go to the Variety Club benefiting children and and the Young Women’s Resource Center benefiting young women.  The event included a golf tournament and a dinner with live and silent auctions.  Photojeania donated a number of portrait packages to the auctions helping the event raise over $4,000 and moving us closer to our goal of helping local charities raise at least $20,000 in 2009.

Meet Elizabeth.  The most adorable loving little girl on the planet!  This session was done in her home in her beautiful bedroom and the nursery.  We wanted to capture some of Elizabeth’s beauty.  Mom is due in about a month and we were also able to capture some special moments that they share.  What special memories!
